Crowds roamed the docks Thursday alongside a flotilla of fishing, law enforcement, and vintage vessels at the Martha’s Vineyard Fishermen’s Preservation Trust’s fourth annual Meet the Fleet celebration in Menemsha.

Vineyard fisherman Sam Hopkins has brought about a half-dozen loads of sea scallops into Menemsha since bringing in his initial catch last week, according to Martha’s Vineyard Fishermen’s Preservation Trust executive director Shelley Edmundson. On July 25 Hopkins’ vessel Endurance unloaded the first direct sea scallops into Chilmark in years, thanks to a $1 million permit acquired by the Trust.
